Logic pro x disk is too slow (record) (-10004) free.Avoid system overloads in Logic Pro

By dvdwaters , June 29, in Logic Pro. I have been getting the "system overload error" and now "disk too slow" for the past week on existing projects that have never displayed the problem in the past.

Currently running El Capitan This problem started about a week ago and is seems to be getting worse. Increasing IO buffer size, Process Buffer range or running threads at automatic, 10 or 12 does not make a difference. Also, the problem is intermittent and will often go away after I have attempted to play the section of the song multiple times the error on the 3 audio track song happens in the first bar before any of the audio tracks play , but will re appear once I close and re open the project.

Any insight or help from someone experiencing similar problem solution would be greatly appreciated. LogicPro I have the exact same problem on my MBP. Logic was fine weeks ago, and now I can't run any project smoothly, even without a single plugin! Which version of Logic are you trying to run? You can post now and register later. Logic Pro Atlas Posted June 29, Trivial but, have you tried cold re-booting yor Mac? Also any other apps running? Using Time Capsule or other backup systems? Posted June 30, No other apps running except Safari Computer is dedicated for music so try to keep apps off the computer.

I have not tried a hard shut down cold but for some odd reason over the last 12 hours the system is no longer showing the system and disk error prompts that stop the playback I have tested on the same projects, in the same measures - have open and reopen Logic numerous times.

Hoping this was a fluke or corrupt preferences but have read others where the symptoms heals itself and then come back on LPX If it starts happening again I will do a cold re boot. I also had a systems engineer Mac tell me today that I should also try and create a new user and open projects from the new user to see if there are corrupt preferences.

Will keep you posted thanks. Mandubien Posted November 10, Posted November 10, Hi there! I'm gonna try to delete any Logic preferences to see if there is any improvement. Just started within the last week as well. AntoshkajaF Posted November 13, Posted November 13, Atlas Posted November 13, Join the conversation You can post now and register later. I recorded all my instruments and vocals correctly sound in time with click track metronome for months, but now last section of my vocals are not in sync.

Will keep you posted thanks. Mandubien Posted November 10, On Mac computers with processors that support Hyper-Threading, two meters are shown for each core. Watch the meters as the project plays back, noting when the meters are full. When a meter is full, the CPU or the disk has reached the limit of its processing capability.

System overload alerts can appear when any of these meters peak. You can use this information to make adjustments to your project or your system configuration. If you're recording audio and not software instruments, you can monitor your audio directly from the source. If your project doesn't include automation, or the automation doesn't need to be sample accurate, you can reduce the CPU load by turning off Sample Accurate Automation. If your project does include automation, choose the option that includes only the parameters you're automating.

Projects with higher sample rates create larger audio files, which can increase the load on the CPU and disk. Plug-ins also require more CPU power to process audio files at higher sample rates. When choosing the sample rate for your project, balance the considerations of audio quality, the anticipated format of the final product, and the performance of your Mac. If disk activity is causing system overload alerts, try choosing lower sample rates for your projects.

Thanks, i hadn't actually tried turning wifi off before. I'll give it a shot. How do i add my system info to the signature? Eric Cardenas Posted February 8, Click this link to your signature. RawScience Posted February 9, Posted February 9, If it were a hardware fault, does anyone know what is most likely the culprit?

DaveRobinson Posted February 9, Wireless off Great tips.. Thank you triplets RawScience Posted February 10, Posted February 10, I should add that near enough immediately when i start logic and play a track the fans kick it to max and stay that way for the duration of the session. Posted February 11, RawScience Posted February 11, DaveRobinson Posted February 11, I'm not on the mac at the minute so can't check this.

The output from the code was: vm. If you had the fan issue since the beginning on that laptop, maybe it's a hardware issue? Have you ever done a hardware test? So i'm not too worried about the fans at this point. Eric Cardenas Posted February 11, HI RS! How much space do you have left on the project disk and system disk? Which sample rate do you work at? Thanks for taking the time Eric, Right, the issue definitely seems to now be effecting all of my projects usually when i have had these issues before it will only be heavy ones.

Audio buffer set to max and process buffer to Large. What happens when you turn off any or all of the 3rd party plugins? Any difference? Sometimes a lot of issues in Logic come from 3rd party stuff.
